Casino Party Theme, Invitations & Activities

Who to Invite

Invite anyone who enjoys the casino atmosphere and will add life to your party! This is the type of party that is not limited to a small number of people. Invite as many as will fit in your home or party space! Remember that guests will be spread out throughout the building, therefore more will fit comfortably.

There are all types of creative invitations available for purchase that will be suitable for your casino night theme. Many of the stationary types have pictures of playing cards, poker chips, or dice on them. If you plan to make this a “posh” affair, include “formal” on the invitation, so that the guests know what to wear.

Decorating for the Casino Night

Red and Black are colors that are central to your décor. Add in green and some white to balance out your colors. The game tables that you plan to use will be focal points in each room. If you cannot borrow tables (many families own 5 in 1 types), then you can make your own, using card tables, felt and colored tape. Decorate the walls with enlarged poster size playing cards and poker chips.

A few decks of playing cards and stacks of play money (purchased at a dollar store) make great streamers to hang from ceilings! Use clear fishing line to give the illusion of them dangling in space. As with any party, white twinkle lights will go a long way in adding ambiance with very little effort. If you have enough lights, you can outline one or more of the game tables, taking care to keep electrical cords out of danger of being tripped on.

It is unlikely that you will be inviting guests who are interested in playing high stakes. Dollar stores sell boxes of playing chips that can be distributed to guests as they arrive. Ask specific people to “man” each game table/station for a 1-2 hour shift, thereby allowing everyone to enjoy the party. You can set up tables for Texas Hold ‘Em, 5 Card Stud, Black Jack, Craps and other popular Casino Games. Buy inexpensive prizes that the invited guests can purchase with their winnings. Holding hourly door prize drawings is also a fun way to thank your guests for coming.

Evening Wear

If you want to give your invited guests a chance to “go out on the town”, be sure to include your intent of it being a “black tie affair” on the invitation. Men will come dressed in tuxedos and women will compete with one another to find the most dazzling dresses and jewelry!
