Creating a Baby Shower Guest List

Baby Shower Guest ListBaby showers are always a time of excitement for the parents-to-be. It’s a celebration of the little bundle of joy who will soon be joining their lives. It’s also a great time to accumulate a lot of the necessities that baby is going to need, including clothes, high chairs, play pens, and more. However, admit all of the excitement, someone has to put together a guest list and that can sometimes be a pretty massive challenge.

Here are some pointers to help you figure out who to put on your baby shower guest list.

Limiting Your Options

First, you should decide how many people to invite. You don’t need to settle on a specific figure, but you should know whether you want a large shower or a small intimate get together. It’s also a good idea to find out if anyone else is throwing a baby shower. Sometimes co-workers will throw a party or someone from the other side of the family will also do the honors. If multiple baby showers are being held, then the same people shouldn’t be invited to all of them with the exception of the mother and father-to-be.

Next, you should sit down and make up a list of everyone who could or might be invited to the baby shower. Family members are an obvious choice. The grandparents, great grandparents, uncles, aunts, and other extended family should all be included if they are on good terms with the parents. The parents-to-be can also invite their friends or co-workers if they desire.

Once you have a comprehensive list of all the possibilities, have the happy parents mark all of the people who absolutely must be invited. There probably won’t be many surprises here, but it’s good to give them input. After that, you can do your own trimming so the guest list matches your budget, space, and party plans.

Inviting the Guests

Of course, you need to create the guest list early enough to be able to send out the invitations in a timely manner. It’s a good idea to give at least two weeks notice, particularly if you are going to ask guests to RSVP That means you should order your invitations earlier. Consider getting baby shower invitation that fit your theme

Remember to include a map or clear directions to the baby shower location with the invitation so your guests can find their way there.
