Invite friends to ring in the New Year with you
New Year’s is a great opportunity to invite friends over, share laughs and reflect on the past year. Invite a dozen, two dozen, even three dozen over to celebrate with you.
Fireworks, ticking clocks, die cuts of the pending year (e.g. 2008) and the ball dropping all are symbols of New Years Eve. Here at MyExpression.com, you will find a variety of invitations and stationery that will cause your guests to look forward to joining you for the celebration.
Types of New Years Gatherings
– Cocktail Party
– Game Night
– Midnight Buffet
Regardless of the type of gathering that you are having on New Years Eve, the d’cor will be the same. Decorate the party space in theme colors of silver and black. New Years Eve is the perfect opportunity to pull the black dress or tux out of the closet and dress up for a special evening. Be sure to offer plenty of party favors such as party hats, horns, noisemakers, balloon, and party poppers. Use twinkle lights and candles to create the party ambiance. Make a replica of a clock set to midnight, or assemble a large collection of clocks on one table, for a high impact conversation starter.
For gatherings other than a midnight buffet; place platters or bowls of snacks strategically around the room. Create a focal point by stationing the television in a central location and surrounding it with helium filled balloons. Gather guests at approximately ten minutes before midnight. Hand out noisemakers, confetti poppers and glasses of champagne or sparkling cider. Have all guests countdown as the ball drops, and toast to the New Year.
New Years Day Gatherings
The Tournament of Roses Parade and the Rose Bowl football game provide the perfect entertainment for your gathering. Use die cuts depicting the date to reinforce that this is a New Year. Party favors are always welcome, and the use is not restricted to just New Years Eve. Invite guests to come in athletic wear if you will be watching the game! Provide face paint, team caps and other party favors for avid football fans to enjoy.
Provide wings, ribs, chips and dip, meatballs, popcorn, veggie platters and coolers of iced beverages for the fans to enjoy as they watch the game!
If you will be watching the parade, having a New Years Brunch Buffet is an effortless way to host a party. Offer a variety of breakfast and light lunch foods, juices and coffee to your guests. Offer a good variety of muffins, fresh fruits, juices, coffees and teas along with the hot foods. Create a multilevel buffet table, using containers placed under the table linens. Flowers are the theme of New Years Day decorations, as well as silver/gold and crystal. A chocolate fountain surrounded by items to dip makes an eye catching focal point.
If children will be coming to the New Years Day event, create a craft area in one room, providing a table of supplies with which to create a miniature float. There is no end to the types of materials that can be used. Older children might enjoy the challenge of using all organic materials; such is required for the Tournament of Roses Parade.
